Historical sites in the center of Athens

Interesting sites in Attica
The prefecture of Attica surrounding the city of Athens also offers some great sightseeing, such as the Temple of Posseidon in Cape Sounion on the southern coast, the archaeological site of Eleusis in the western region of the prefecture, and the archaeological site of Vravrona and Peania Cave in eastern Attica.

Off the coast of Attica are the small Saronic Islands (Aegina, Hydra, Poros and Spetses), which give visitors of Athens the opportunity to take a day cruise and get acquainted with the Greek Islands.
